Crafted by hand.
Every petal, every flower.
Since 1980, one family workshop in Bangkok has shaped, painted and assembled every Foamflora flower by hand — over 1,000 designs, shipped to wholesalers in more than 20 countries.
Made by hand. Close to nature.
Foamflora is a family-run workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, that has been making handmade artificial flowers since 1980. Twenty years ago we turned our focus to hula flowers and Polynesian dance supplies, for dancers and wholesalers who wanted blooms as soft and lifelike as the real thing. Today the workshop is still family-run and the techniques are still ours, refined generation to generation, never outsourced, never automated.
Today we produce over 1,000 designs — hair picks, hair clips and lei-style flowers, led by the Hawaiian favorites plumeria, hibiscus and tiare — for hula supplies wholesalers and importers across the United States, Japan, Australia and beyond. Signature designs from our catalog, or custom pieces built to your colors and specifications.
The woman who started it all
In 1980, Udomluck was a young housewife in Bangkok with a second child on the way. She enrolled in a flower-craft class hoping to earn a little from home — and her teacher saw the skill in her hands and began sending her real work.
One table became two, then a workshop of skilled artisans — all while she raised three children. Through good years and hard ones, she never stopped making flowers, and eventually the family opened its own shop to work with customers directly: the workshop that became Foamflora.
Forty-five years, one workshop
A class in Bangkok
Udomluck learns flower craft to support her growing family. Her teacher starts sending her paid work.
One table, then a hundred hands
The home workshop grows into a factory of nearly 100 artisans, working two shifts day and night.
Staying the course
The market changes and many Thai workshops close — ours keeps making flowers, hand by hand.
Going direct
The second generation joins and the family opens its own shop, working with wholesale customers directly.
Second generation
Foamflora ships handmade hula flowers to 20+ countries — with Udomluck still at the worktable.
The details only hands can make
Each flower is shaped, painted, assembled and inspected by hand, one by one. This careful attention is what gives every piece the look and feel of a living flower.

It begins on paper
Before a single petal is cut, our designers hand-draw every pattern — original Polynesian-style motifs, sketched line by line until the proportions feel right.

Shaped to feel alive
After molding, an artisan curves and shapes every petal by hand, coaxing in the soft, slightly imperfect line of a real flower — a touch no machine adds on its own.

Colored by hand
Each petal is hand-painted in layers, light to deep, building the same soft color gradient you’d find in nature.

Assembled and inspected by hand
Trained artisans bring the petals together one flower at a time, then check every piece by hand — petals, center, stem — before it ever reaches the box.
Real, or handmade?
One bloomed on a tree. The other was shaped and painted, petal by petal, in our workshop. Side by side, even we have to look twice.

Made to be worn
From the workshop table to the dancer’s hair — hair picks, clips and lei-style flowers that hold their color and shape, performance after performance.

Machines make flowers faster.
They just can’t make them feel alive.
Craft before speed
Forty-five years of technique goes into the natural look of every petal. We’d rather make it right than make it fast.
