Foamflora makes handmade foam o’hai ali’i hair picks in Bangkok, sold wholesale worldwide since 1980. The o’hai ali’i — the bloom of the royal poinciana tree — is prized for its spiky, unmistakable silhouette: threaded into lei, clustered into haku crowns, worn as a single striking pick for hula. Every one is hand-assembled from foam in our family’s workshop, colored in shades drawn from the living flower — an artificial bloom with the fine filaments and soft gradients of the real thing, and it never wilts.
Every design comes in vivid white, red, yellow and pink, in sizes that suit a delicate lei accent or a single statement pick worn on its own. Because the shape is so distinctive, many customers pair o’hai ali’i with plumeria or hibiscus to add texture and contrast to a lei or haku crown. All designs are made to order — minimum 100 pieces per design, 20 per color — and ship worldwide.
